1.1 “You” means everyone who purchases a ticket and everyone who visits a cinema operated by The Light Cinemas Limited, whether or not they have purchased a ticket.
1.2 “Us” or “We” means The Light Cinemas Limited generally and each of the cinemas it operates.
2.1 All tickets must be presented for scanning by:
2.1.1 showing the ticket barcode on your smartphone at the usher point.
2.1.2 printing them at home and bringing the printed copy in to the cinema to be scanned at the usher point;
2.1.3 printing them at the automated ticket machines by use of the card you used to book or the unique booking number as means of authentication;
2.1.4 providing your reference number at any customer service point and tickets will be printed for you.
2.2.1 Student tickets will be issued only upon the production of a valid National Union of Students (NUS) identification showing a clear photograph of the student and the applicable expiry date of the identification. Student tickets will be limited to one per student. Photographic identification may be checked before admission to the auditorium in the case of pre-booked tickets.
2.2.2 Seniors tickets are available at certain times on specified days and will only be issued on the production of a valid senior card, senior bus pass / Freedom pass or state pension letter. Senior tickets will be limited to one ticket per senior. Proof of entitlement and identification may be checked before admission to the auditorium in the case of pre-booked tickets.
2.3 Use of the tickets will be strictly subject to our Terms of Entry (Clause 6). If you are purchasing tickets on behalf of others in accordance with clause 2.10 you shall be responsible for procuring their compliance with our Terms of Entry.
2.4 Lost, stolen or damaged tickets will not be replaced.
2.5 You may be asked to present the payment card used to make your booking or the booking reference for verification in order to collect your tickets at the premises. It is therefore your responsibility to ensure you bring the correct form of verification to your booking.
2.6 We are a member of the Cinema Exhibitors Association (CEA). If you are a disabled person, you can apply for a CEA card. This allows your carer free admission when they attend the cinema with you. Guide and Hearing dogs are welcome but other animals are not permitted on the premises. Loop and Fidelio systems are available for the visually or audio impaired.
2.7 We are under no obligation to exchange or refund tickets once a booking has been confirmed. We are not responsible in the event you select the wrong film, a different time and/or a film you cannot attend when booking through our website. However, we may be able to help you up to 2 hours before the start time of the film.
2.8 Where we are, for any reason, unable to provide a screening you will be offered a full refund or the option to swap to an alternative screening and any difference in price will be charged or refunded to you. Such refund will also include any online food and drink items purchased in advance at the same time which have not been fulfilled for any reason. Refunds will be made to the payment card used to make the booking.
2.9 You must not purchase tickets except for personal use and you represent and warrant that tickets are not purchased as part of any form of a for-profit business or commercial activity, including without limitation a competition, unless we have expressly authorised otherwise in writing in advance.
2.10 You may purchase cinema tickets on behalf of yourself or friends and family but they may not be offered for re-sale, re-sold and/or offered for sale.
3.1 We will always try to show films in accordance with the programme that we advertise. However, there may be circumstances in which we are unable to comply with the advertised programme and we reserve the right to cancel a performance, vary the time of an exhibition or substitute an alternative film if this becomes necessary because of circumstances beyond our control including an Event of Force Majeure. If this happens we will, at our discretion, refund the cost of the ticket or issue another ticket for the same film on an alternative occasion. We are unable to take responsibility for programme information advertised by third parties.
3.2 For the purpose of these terms and conditions, an Event of Force Majeure means a situation beyond our control the consequences of which could not have been avoided. Such events may include, without limitation: war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, actual or threatened terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire, disease or illness, epidemics, pandemics or any such crisis which may impact human health and result in government imposed restrictions.
4.1 Entry to films and events is restricted by the classification given by the British Board of Film Classification or others. We are required to refuse admission to anyone who is below or appears to be below the minimum age required by the relevant classification.
4.2 Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age at all times.
4.3 Children under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years of age after 8 p.m.
4.4 We reserve the right to require you to prove your age with appropriate photographic ID if you are going to a 12A, 15 or 18 film and/or or purchasing an alcoholic drink. If you are unable to prove your age you will be not be able to watch the film or buy an alcoholic drink. We reserve the right to ask for such proof at any time you are on our premises. We operate Challenge 25 and will operate such policy applying our discretion.
4.5.1 We offer baby-friendly screenings for parents and their children under the age of 1 year old. There must be one adult (parent or carer over 18 years old) to each child and a maximum of 2 adults per child. No children over the age of 1 are permitted for legal reasons. Adults who are not accompanying a baby will not be allowed to purchase a ticket to a Baby Friendly screening.
4.5.2 We offer family-friendly screenings for families and younger children. However these are not recommended for children under the age of 3. We strongly recommend you do not bring babies under the age of 1 to these screenings due to the potential impact of volume on a baby's hearing. Adults who are not accompanying a child will not be allowed to purchase a ticket to a ‘Family Special’ screening.
5.1 Only food and drink purchased at the cinema during your visit may be consumed within the cinema.
5.2 Any pre-ordered food and drinks must be purchased with a film ticket. If you have purchased food and drink with a film ticket they must be collected on the same day as your film screening, any time before the cinema closes. We aim to supply all online food and drink orders but there may be times when certain items are not available on the day for reasons beyond our reasonable control.
5.3 No alcoholic drinks may be brought into the cinema building. You must observe the licensing regulations at the cinema concerning the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks. Alcohol can only be ordered and consumed by people aged 18 or over. We operate Challenge 25 and if you appear to be under the age of 25 when collecting or receiving an online alcohol order, we will only supply the alcohol if you show us photographic proof of age.
6.1 Only customers in possession of a valid ticket will be admitted into the auditorium to which the ticket relates and admission will be permitted only for the duration of the performance specified by the ticket.
6.2 We reserve the right to require customers who are disruptive, unwell, antisocial or violent to leave the cinema immediately without any entitlement to a refund. What constitutes disruptive, unwell, antisocial or violent behaviour shall be determined at the duty manager’s sole discretion and includes both physical and verbal abuse.
6.3 Mobile phones must be switched off or in a silent mode before you enter the auditorium. You must not take or make calls inside the auditorium.
6.4 In order to avoid disturbing other guests, customers who arrive after the start of the feature presentation will only be permitted entry into the auditorium at the duty manager’s sole discretion. Refunds will not be issued by us in these circumstances.
6.5 We, acting reasonably, reserve the right to refuse admission or request a guest to leave at any time for an objectively determined reason. The duty manager’s decision in these cases is final.
6.6 In order to provide a safe environment for our employees and customers we may, from time to time, introduce a variety of safety measures. By entering our premises you are agreeing to adhere and proactively cooperate with such safety measures. We reserve the right to require customers not adhering to these measures to leave the premises without a refund. These safety measures may include but are not limited to:
6.6.1 Face coverings: face coverings must be worn in the cinema at all times except during the specific times when you are eating and drinking.
6.6.2 Social distancing: we may implement social distancing across all areas within the cinema. This will include changing and/or declassifying seating arrangements at our discretion.
6.6.3 Staggered entry times: we may stagger film start and end times to reduce the amount of customers on our premises. We therefore may politely ask you to wait outside the premises until our employees allow you entry and for you to leave the premises promptly after your film has finished.
6.6.4 Queuing systems: we may operate queues in a manner to reduce risk to individuals which may include outside queuing, queuing in a remote area or socially distanced queues.
6.6.5 Contactless payment: we may only accept contactless methods of payments on our premises. It is your responsibility to ensure you have an appropriate method of payment when entering our premises.
6.8 In the interest of safety, security and other reasonable causes, we may ask to search your possessions whilst on the premises for any item which a staff member believes may contravene these terms and conditions. We reserve the right to refuse entry or require a customer, who doesn’t agree to being searched, to leave the premises without entitlement to a refund.
6.9 Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the cinema premises this includes any form of electronic cigarette or other artificial smoking devices.
6.10 You must keep your personal belongings with you at all times. We accept no responsibility for the loss, theft, alteration or damage to any personal items brought onto the premises.
6.12 It is a serious criminal offence to copy or attempt to copy any film or other copyright material exhibited in any part of the cinema, punishable on conviction with an unlimited fine and imprisonment of up to a maximum of ten years. You are not permitted to bring cameras and/or recording equipment of any kind into the cinema for the purposes of illegal activity. We reserve the right to carry out random bag checks and refuse equipment at the sole discretion of the Manager.
6.13 You may not bring any dangerous and/or illegal items into any part of the cinema at any time.
7.1 The terms in this section (“Website Terms”) set out the legally binding terms which apply to everyone who accesses or uses this website. By accessing or using this website you agree to be bound by these Website Terms.
7.2 This website is provided free of charge and we make no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free. In addition, we reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, all or any part of this website without notice and without liability.
7.3 This website and the materials on it are protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property rights and laws throughout the world. The materials on this website are owned by or licensed to us and may not be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted or distributed in any way without our consent. Modification of the materials or use of the materials for any other purposes is a violation of the copyrights and other proprietary rights.
7.4 Cinema tickets are sold by us at standard prices for the relevant performance. These prices may vary based on numerous factors, including without limitation, the location of the premises, the timing of the performance, the specific titles, the sales channel and the ticket type. By requesting tickets through our website, you are placing a booking request for tickets on these terms and conditions that is only deemed accepted by and binding once valid payment has been processed and you have been sent an email confirmation of your booking. If pricing of tickets is included on the website in error then the ticket price will be due and payable by the customer based on the standard pricing. Where errors have been made on pricing, we reserve the right to offer you the option to pay any difference in pricing or cancel the ticket, in which case we will offer you a full refund.
7.5 Purchases made via the website can be paid for using a combination of debit, credit or charge card, vouchers (where available) and/or gift cards.
7.6 All prices displayed on the website (unless otherwise stated) are inclusive of VAT (where applicable).
7.7 This website contains links to other websites which are not controlled by us. The fact that we may provide a link to any such website does not mean that we endorse that website. Such links are only provided for your convenience and you access them at your own risk.
7.9 We may immediately suspend and/or terminate an account on our website if:
7.9.1 we suspect any fraud in any matter connected to the registration of the account;
7.9.2 the account holder misuses their account, e.g. sharing with others or using the account other than for reasonable personal use;
7.9.3 the account holder commits any other material breach of these terms and conditions which cannot be corrected or if it has not been corrected within a reasonable time;
7.9.4 the account holder engages in any behaviour or activity which is disruptive or damaging to our business or operation, process or practice, including breaching our Terms of Entry; and/or
7.9.5 the account holder does not comply fully with these terms and conditions on a continuing and ongoing basis.
8.1 Nothing in these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights as a customer or excludes or limits our liability for fraud or for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or for any other liability which we cannot exclude or limit under law. Otherwise our liability to you shall be limited to the ticket price paid.
8.2 In addition to our other rights, in the event that you breach any of these terms and conditions, we reserve the right to take such action as is necessary to remedy or prevent a reoccurrence of such breach including recovering any costs incurred, banning you from all Light Cinemas premises and/or taking legal action.
8.3 Subject to Clause 8.4, these terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the courts of England shall have jurisdiction over any claim or matter arising under or in connection with these terms.
8.4 For any customers based in Scotland or for any claims which relate to Light Cinema premises based in Scotland, we agree that the Scottish Courts shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these terms or its subject matter or formation.
8.5 You acknowledge, accept and agree that the car parking management and services at our premises is operated by a third party organisation(s). On this basis, we are not responsible for the operation of such services, including without limit, any fines or penalties applied by such third party organisations.
